Big City Girl Takes On A Night Out In A Small Town
A bag of treats, a passport proclaiming shopping grounds and all of your girlfriends together… can a night on the town get any better than this? There were pink and black balloons lining Tower Avenue as far as the eye could see, marking ones participation in Saturday nights, GIRLS NIGHT OUT in downtown Centralia. Hand over five bucks in exchange for your passport and a bag of treats and the night was yours for the taking.
Starting at the Hub Bub, treat bag and passport in hand I not only found ladies bonding over falls latest shoe selection, but little girls amused by the artsy finds and mom and daughter pairs on a mission for the most stamps. All ages and every kind had their eye on the prize, you see, beyond the shopping, the giggles and the treats, there was an amazing gift basket being offered to those who filled their passport with the most stamps and turned it in at the end of the night. My fingers are crossed!

As the new girl in town, I was bubbling with excitement at the chance to explore new shops and discover what this town has to offer. I’m a bit weak in the knees for cupcakes so you can only imagine how thrilled I was to discover, Fruffles; which satisfied both the accessory and cupcake connoisseur within me. Shady Lady was the place to be in the early evening portion, so many smiling faces and oh… shopping bags too! Wine tasting with chocolate-rimmed glasses for the reds and sugar-rimmed for the whites at Heymann’s Winery happened to rival with my tasting experience in Italy this summer. Let’s just say that I was impressed!

The hidden treasures within the consignment shops, boutiques and antique stores alone could keep a girl occupied for days! Shop owners at Cattywampus, Curious Betty, Cheryl’s Attic and Debbie’s Boutique welcomed us all with warm smiles and stamps for our passports. I was surprised and delighted to see the participation of your not so “typical” shop, Lucky No. 3 Tattoo Company, where they were even offering the temporary kind for kids! Tips N Toes hair design and Bath Depot will be on my new list of places to be beautified, if you haven’t stopped in, you’re missing out! And did I mention the smell that had us all on a hunt? The donut junkie was indeed ready for every girl’s sweet tooth!

As if we weren’t all satisfied with the finds of our shopping adventures, the samples of chocolate and wine or the giggles and bonding that happens when you mix all of the above with groups of girls… dinning was in order. I mean, what is girl’s night out without gossip over a plate of good food and fabulous drinks? La Paz didn’t disappoint!

I left wanting more and I shall return for just that as will the rest of the girls out with me I’m sure. This town has a lot to offer from fashion to food and everything in between. So until next time…
