Friends, sun and fun in San Diego

Day Three: Welcome to the city of Angels!

We made it! Jackson was not so happy about the early wake up call… He really loves those hotel beds. Can’t you tell? From the bay area, through the desert, and over the hills, we drove through so many different scenes!

Only a quick stop at Green Burrito today, this girl has a game to watch! My uncle had a Super Bowl party that we made it just in time for! This is also Jackson’s new home until I get settled. He fit right in with the 2 dogs but he’s still trying to learn how to get along with the 5 cats! Yikes!

Naturally, there was a spread of Mexican food to chow down on (wings are overrated) that’s what happens in my family! A heap of chips and guac while I watched Madonna… the chips were far more enjoyable. Sorry, love her and the clothes were GRAND but the performance bored me!

My Giants won, woo hoo! What a way to kick off the first day in my home! Mom is a HUGE Disney fan, so guess what was on the agenda the next day? Yep… The happiest place on earth! I think I’m gonna like it here!

Day Two: California Dreaming

We woke up in the quiet and cold mountains of Oregon and went to
sleep in the hustle and bustle and warmth of San Francisco. What a day!

The drive into California was breathtaking. We passed wide open
fields with a background of snow covered mountains under a bright blue sky. The perfect day for driving. Passing Mt Shasta never gets old, ever! Northern California was the perfect temperature to run around outside with Jackson. We stopped and let him out to run around and per on fire hydrants … typical, I guess? At least it was cute!

We got to San Francisco that evening, what a gorgeous city! Walking around in a trench coat in the evening, not needing to bundle up was so refreshing! Dinner at In N Out because…when in Rome! We just had to! We stayed in Fisherman’s Wharf for the night with a gorgeous view of the city lights and water. We had poor planning and tried to go to Alcatraz but it was sold out. Guess I’ll I’ll just have to return!

LA? Yes, please! I am so ready to thaw out and be in the sun. Not to mention, I’m a California girl originally, its in my blood. The sun motivates me as much as coffee (gasp) and this girl needed a little motivation!

This January I made a vision board and on it, two cities. NY or LA? The sunshine state won my heart. Today, with the help of my brother & sister, I packed my jeep to the brim! Literally, my entire life went into one car and I was ready for the open road.

Bittersweet, I planned to leave Jackson with my mom until I got a job and got settled. As you see above, he continued to give me a sad face and block my suitcase from getting out the door without him:( A last minute call to my uncle ensured that Jackson could come along, he will dog sit while I job hunt!

My heart was happy, my car was packed, my clothing comfy yet cute, and my dreams were ready for reality! I brought my mom along for the ride to help me unpack, get settled, and spend an extra few days before I really have to say goodbye.

We just arrived in Medford, OR, grabbed a pet friendly room, and I’m ready to rest up for tomorrow (today?).

Goodnight

Chinese New Year In Miami

Oh how I love twitter! I follow @LorenRidinger (and you should too) and when she tweeted about a contest for a trip to Miami, I not only instantly entered but I tweeted it to my friend Amber @AMBitiousPRGirl and told her to enter too. Having forgotten all about it, I was walking by her desk several days later and she yells, ” I WON”. What? No way? Yes, she did and we were Miami bound! Honestly, we had no idea what to expect, all we were thinking was: It’s January, we’re cold, Miami is HOT. And Loren will be there, duh!

What we saw right when we got to Miami. We just realized that our boots and jackets were no longer needed. It was snowing in Richmond, when we left!

We checked into the Whitelaw Hotel, a boutique hotel right Collins Ave. It’s a block from the beach, situated smack dab in the middle of shopping (dangerous) and good food (even more dangerous). The rate was insanely cheap, we thought that the website must have been fibbing a bit. Nope! It was gorgeous. Free Wifi, a shuttle to and from the airport (which we missed and had to hop on a bus to the hotel and it quickly became our means of transportation for the trip), beach towels, and a fun beach bag. If you are planning a trip to MIA anytime soon, I would highly recommend it!

Our first morning we woke up early, mapped out how to get to the event by bus (I wasn’t kidding) and headed to Loren’s event, Market America. When we arrived at the American Airlines Area, we were escorted through the VIP entrance (got a peek at Loren’s dressing room) and to front row VIP seats. Among us? Eva Longoria and Serena Williams to name a few! Our favorite part of the day was the Chinese New Year Celebration!

1. Chinese New Year Celebration 2. The Stage 3. All glammed up waiting for the bus 4. The essentials: ma pass, bus pass, and hotel key 5. Our seating

Ps- Getting ready in that kind of humidity is no easy task!

What’s a visit to Miami without the beach? This was only a few steps outside of our hotel room, heaven, right? Well, until that huge jelly fish stung me! Amber had to unwrap it from my foot. Now that’s a friend. As you can see, our white legs needed a tan!

We did the touristy thing and went to Espanola Way for some dinner, don’t judge. Dash was right behind our hotel so of course we had to peek in. $10 for a bottle of Kardashian water, no thanks! I ran on this trail that led to the beach each morning, I could stay in shape if this was my daily view! Breakfast at News Cafe is always fun for people watching, but my favorite was cafe con leche at, Puerto Sagua. A puerto rican restaurant frequented by JLo.

Every woman should experience this in Italy. It is delightful.

Rooftop dinner with a view of Duomo, Milan Italy. One of the most beautiful buildings I’ve ever seen

Because everything about Milan was fabulous! The shopping, the pizza, the Italian lessons, the architecture… All of it! GRAZIE, Italy… You were amazing!
